Broken Pieces (Demon Slayer x Male Reader) - Chapter 11: A Troublesome Trio (2024)

 

A/N: I'm sorry for the longer wait, I have had a few cases at work and I had to put my time into working on them. I'm thinking of updating once or twice a week just so I can level everything out and also give me some time to sit back and rest when I do have time off of work. As promised by Y/N the night before, the fourteen year old hashira started out of his estate, Tanjiro close behind with Nezuko secured on his back once again. 
Y/N was escorting the recovering slayer back to the butterfly estate to help ease things over with Shinobu, so Tanjiro won't get too harsh of a scolding. 
But Y/N's eye was twitching as Tanjiro continued to rant the entire way, despite such a tragedy that happened to the boy, he didn't change much at all. He was still talking Y/N's ear off like when they were younger. 
Mio flew onto her slayers shoulder, who was getting some very harsh words thrown at her from Tanjiro's crow. 
"...what a rude crow" Y/N said, looking up at the circling crow in surprise . He had never seen such an ill mannered crow in the corps, how did the most rude one get paired with the kindest kid? 
"And then I was able to slash away the webs and- Oh! There's Inosuke!" Tanjiro exclaimed, seeing the boar kid outside of the butterfly estate. He was still dressed in the rehabilitation clothing, but still wore the mask. 
Inosuke looked towards the sound of his name, before huffing and charging like a rabid beast. 
Y/N had a deadpanned expression, stepping to the side and watching the boar kid go flying past him and into the trunk of a tree. 
"Inosuke what are you doing?!" Tanjiro shouted with a tick mark due to his friends rudeness. 
"You! Fight me now! Let's go, you and me!" Inosuke demanded after recovering. He began to charge again, but Tanjiro grabbed his arms and held him back from attacking the hashira. 
"Inosuke stop! That's rude! And you're still hurt!" 
"My my, what a ruckus out here" Shinobu said, walking until she stood beside Y/N. 
The young teen looked to the girl, "Kocho. I'm accounting for Kamado's absence last night, he sought advice and stayed at my estate."

"That's quite alright, as long as he didn't activate his wounds any further. And you don't have to be so formal with me, Y/N." 
"LET ME GO GONPACHIRO!!" 
"That's not my name!" 
"I DON'T WANNA TAKE MY MEDICINE AHHHHH NEZUKO HELP MEEE!!" 
"..What is wrong with these guys?" Y/N asked to himself. 
"What a troublesome trio" Shinobu said with a happy (annoyed) smile.

"Again." 
Y/N moved further into the small and narrow room, swinging his wooden sword in between the posts as he flipped over obstacles. 
He made it to the end of the room, the snake pillar nodding once as Kaburamaru slithered along his shoulder. 
 
"Good. You've improved a lot." 
Y/N stood up straight, bowing slightly towards Obanai. Out of all the training drills the hashira put him through when he was first taken in, the snake pillars was by far his favorite. Being able to maneuver through obstacles along with sword accuracy has helped him tremendously in battle. 
Y/N walked out of the serpent hashira's estate, looking up he spotted Shinazugawa's crow circling the sky before landing on a tree. He could sense the wind pillars overwhelming soul approaching, so the cursed hashira stayed put until he arrived. 
Sanemi trudged his way down the path, his eyes finally landing on the kid he was looking for. 
"You. We're on a mission together, tonight." 
Y/N blinked in confusion, Mio hadn't told him of such a mission with a fellow pillar. Was Shinazugawa actually inviting Y/N on a mission with him? Or, demanding by the sound of it. 
"Stop giving me such a dumbass expression and just go to my estate at sundown." 
And with that, he marched off.
Y/N had dotted eyes as he watched the merciless pillar leave. 
"Do I, really look like that?" He asked, his crow perched beside Sanemi's crow on the same tree. 
"No, Y/N" she replied.

"Wind breathing, ninth form: Idaten Typhoon!" 
"Cursed breathing, third form: Soul Shredder" 
The wind pillar flipped into the air, powerful slashes circled downwards and tore apart the demons below, while Y/N leapt into the air to take care of the demons above. 
Skulls circled rapidly like a tornado, shredding the demons to pieces easily. A form he had created thanks to watching Sanemi spar. 
Y/N landed, flicking his sword to get rid of the blood before sheathing it. 
"f*cking pests" Sanemi said, spitting on the evaporating remains of the demons that laid scattered at the twos feet. 
The mission that Sanemi dragged Y/N on was in fact, not just one. The two were going from town to town who reported a problem, it was already the fifth mission of the night that they completed without a scratch. 
"Let's go. There's more demon sightings north." 
Y/N wordlessly followed along, he could tell the man was angry. Maybe he should apologize for stepping up to him during the trial of Nezuko. But that would be a lie, Y/N wasn't sorry at all. 
"Y/N." 
Y/N jolted from his thoughts and looked to the wind pillars back, as the man was still walking ahead of him. 
"Be real with me. When you first started killing demons without a breathing technique, how close were you to dying every time you fought?" 
Y/N thought back to his time before joining the corps, he had been so rage filled, he never really stopped to think of how many times he should've received medical attention. 
"It wasn't anything serious. Though, the bites and scratches I would receive on my arms or legs wouldn't really matter, since mine are fake" Y/N replied. 
Sanemi stayed quiet, deep in thought. His stress sky rocketed when he found out his younger brother entered the demon slayer corps, and it increased even more when he got word that Genya didn't know a single breathing technique. 
There was a moment it time that he considered trying to teach Genya wind breathing, but he would much rather try and get him to quit all together. So that's what he would put most of his focus on. 
But considering how well Y/N did at the beginning without a technique, did Genya have a shot of surviving? 
Sanemi clenched his teeth in anger, he was going to eradicate every demon and make his way to Muzan, no matter what. 
"Let's go." Sanemi demanded, stomping ahead faster now. 
Y/N blinked with a tilt of the head, Sanemi was weird. 
"...okay."
