Dutch Almond Bars Recipe

Hubby was bugging me for a sweet treat, so I whipped these up. They are easy to make, basically a type of shortbread with almonds. They are also delicate in that they will crumble but will keep for days. These are rich, delicious, yet simple sweet treats.

I think they are totally delicious!

Tips and variations for making this Dutch Almond Bars recipe

● Dust your hand lightly with flour to prevent your fingertips and palms from sinking into the dough.

● You are cooling these bars in the pan. Cut them while warm to contain crumbling.

● Use almond extract and not almond flavoring. It is more intense and better suited to this recipe.

● Do not substitute vanilla extract for almond extract.

● 1 cup Butter = 16 Tablespoons = 2 Sticks

● Leave the butter out to room temperature to soften it, approximately an hour before you decide to bake.

● Do not substitute margarine for the butter.

● If you prefer, you may want to comingle the white sugar with a tablespoon of brown sugar to sprinkle over the egg wash for a different taste.

● You can cut the bars into smaller pieces than what I have listed, but remember that they are delicate, and some may break.

● Store in an airtight container.
