What could be easier than whipping up a keto mug cake? Nothing! That’s why you need this amazing list of delicious low carb mug cakes. Perfect for all occasions! Sugar free and grain free.

An updated list of the best keto mug cakes for your snacking pleasure!

Mug cake was something of a revelation for me when I became a food blogger. I’d honestly never heard of these almost-instant cakes until I started reading other food blogs and finding recipes on the internet.

They were like the little hidden secret of the recipe world, not to be found in the usual channels of cookbooks, cooking magazines or Food Network shows.

To say I was skeptical was an understatement. How could a few quick ingredients tossed together and cooked for a minute in the microwave taste any good? Butin desperation for something sweet one day, I decided to give one a try. Mind you, I had to give it a thorough makeover, since the one I was working from was of the full flour and sugar variety. But my first keto mug cake was absolutely divine and I was instantly hooked.

And the great thing about mug cakes is that they’re not just for dessert! They can be breakfast too.

Whether you call them mug cakes, one minute muffins, or muffins in a mug, they have a solid place in the low carb, gluten-free annals. They are easy to make and often just as tasty as more labor-intensive cakes, although rarely as pretty.

And they offer automatic portion control. So I spent some time hunting up the best keto mug cakes on the internet. Whether you are a chocolate lover or prefer cinnamon or fruity flavors, you are sure to find something you love.

I wanted to try the Lemon Coconut Mug Cake from Counting All Joy, but it looks like a broken link. What should be the home page to that site brings up something that suggests the whole site is gone. Is there another place I could get that recipe?

OK, I have finally found my chocolate snack cake. Working at home today, I made this during a break this afternoon. I ate it with some vanilla sour cream. It was heavenly. And the chocolate square in addition to the cocoa, really adds something to it.

There’s a delicious pumpkin mug cake in the KetoDiet cookbook. I make up a batch of the dry ingredients so its even quicker to make one for breakfast whenever I fancy it. Looking forward to trying some from list so thanks for posting ?

Brilliant! Who was the clever person that came up with the single serve mug cake idea? It is exactly the help a person losing weight needs. No need to worry about being tempted by a second helping because there is no second helping. I made the single serve Cheesecake in a Mug Friday night. It was very good. I felt very satisfied. Oddly enough I also felt very virtuous because I knew I would not be taking a second serving. Nice concept!

My daugther likes the idea of that fast mug cakes, but they usually turn out to be kind of gummy and spongy. The consistency is just weird…. are we doing something wrong?

It’s the nature of microwave cooking. You can always try doing them in the oven instead.

I went to the Rachel Cooks website for the Meyer Lemon mug cake. What a frustrating site! I understand supporting other sites, but I will copy the recipe and avoid her site. I Wish you had just given the recipe. Eager to try it.

15 grams of carb per serving is not low carb (I just looked at one random recipe). At least not for me it isn’t.

Thank you! I’ve been back on the LC wagon less than a week and I’m dying for something sweet. Now all I have to do is decide which one… 🙂

After many years of LC, I developed an aversion to eggs. Now, I cannot believe I ever loved mock Danish, which makes me gag now. Same with mug cakes. I noticed one blogger had eggless so I am going to try using flax/chia egg. It makes the texture in your pancakes really soft and puffy so…..I’ll keep you posted. Thanks for this.

FAQs

How many carbs in a keto mug cake? ›

This keto mug cake recipe has 6.7g of carbs and 3g of fiber per serving. That comes to 3.7g net carbs per mug cake.

Why did my mug cake turn out rubbery? ›

This is likely because your mug is too small, or you added too much baking powder. Measure accurately and make sure your mug is at least 10oz in volume. Why is my chocolate mug cake rubbery or dry? A rubbery mug cake is indicative of being overcooked, or incorrect measurements.

Why is my mug cake not spongy? ›

You didn't use self-rising flour

This one isn't necessarily a deal breaker, but it could help save time and ensure proper texture in your mug cake. Self-rising flour is a flour mixture that includes salt and baking powder, two ingredients that help cake become cake.

Can you eat raw mug cake batter? ›

Let's make this simple: No. Eating uncooked dough or batter can make you severely sick. The primary risk comes from flour. That's right… flour.

What is a keto cake made of? ›

A keto cake is typically made with low-carb ingredients such as almond flour, coconut flour, and sugar-free sweeteners. This makes it a suitable option for those who are following a low-carb or sugar-free diet.

Is Cool Whip Light keto? ›

The short answer, no, cool whip is not keto friendly for those on a strict low carb diet. HOWEVER, cool whip in small amounts can easily fit into a low carb/ keto diet.

What is lazy keto menu? ›

A lazy keto diet consists of low-carb foods like meat, fish, full-fat dairy and non-starchy vegetables, but limits high-carb foods such as bread, potatoes, sugary snacks and some fruits. If you've tried the keto before and found it too tedious, lazy keto could be a good compromise.

Are flavored K cups keto friendly? ›

Flavored coffee isn't keto itself since it contains little to no fat and no protein. But it has little to no carbohydrates or sugar - consuming it won't necessarily help you achieve ketosis, but it won't detract from it, either.

Why don't mug cakes use eggs? ›

It's easy to see why—most classic cake recipes call for two or three eggs and serve at least 10 people. So for a single-serving mug cake, just skip the egg; a whole egg will overpower the small amount of batter (and it's pretty tough to divide an egg in quarters).

Why don't mug cakes work? ›

The small size of the treat, particularly the mug you make it in, may limit your ability to properly mix your ingredients together. A regular whisk, for instance, is too big to reach into the space where the wall meets the base, so you might end up with clumps of unmixed dry ingredients at the bottom.

Why does my mug cake taste bitter? ›

If you purposely or accidentally used baking soda instead of baking powder without making any changes to your recipe, you'll definitely end up with a bitter taste. Remember, baking soda is an alkaline, or base, ingredient that naturally has a bitter taste. Baking powder is a multi-ingredient leavener.

How do you know when a mug cake is done? ›

Cook each mug separately and remember they will continue to cook a touch more on standing, so I found 1 minute perfect for my mug-cakes. Touch the centre and if it's firm then your cakes are done. Try not to overcook these or they will go rubbery (the perils of the microwave!)

Can you eat mug cake cold? ›

This cake is perfect as is or with a little dollop of something special on top like whipped cream, melted peanut butter, or a little spread of frosting. However you decide to eat it: hot or cold, with toppings or without; you're going to be so thankful you've got this quick and easy desert in your repertoire!

Why does my mug cake taste like flour? ›

Homemade cakes can taste like flour if they are not cooked properly. When cakes taste like flour, it is due to one or more reasons; the ratio of wet to dry ingredients could be off, the components may not have been mixed properly, or the cake is undercooked.

How many carbs in a keto chocolate mug cake? ›

Per chocolate mug cake: 405 Calories, 36.94 Fats, 5.86g Net Carbs, and 12.31g Protein. Melt the butter in the microwave for 25 seconds. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well.

What is mug cake made of? ›

Add flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt to a mug and stir together. Stir in milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth, being sure to scrape the bottom of the mug. Stir in sprinkles. Cook in microwave for 70-90 seconds* (until cake is just set, but still barely shiny on top).

What are keto cups made of? ›

Melt coconut oil in a saucepan over low heat, 3 to 5 minutes. Stir in peanut butter until smooth. Whisk in heavy cream, cocoa powder, liquid stevia, vanilla extract, and salt. Pour chocolate-peanut butter mixture into 12 silicone muffin molds.

Will a piece of cake take you out of ketosis? ›

Consuming a slice of non-keto cake is likely to temporarily take you out of ketosis. The impact varies among individuals, but it's essential to return to a strict keto diet to resume ketosis. Learn from the experience and use it as motivation to make healthier choices moving forward.
