I'd take a 6th round pick and be done with it.
So just bend over?Gould is a top 3 kicker, and good kickers are hard to find. We shouldn't let his pouting cost us an asset. A 6th is essentially just a flier.
What do you think the 9ers could get for a 36 year old KICKER?
Who cares? A 36 year old kicker isn't going to sit out the season, give up 5 mil, and get rusty, and he sure isn't going to do poorly on purpose. Make him play for the team this year.
I understand that, but if you think teams are gonna give a 3rd or 4th round pick for Gould would be unrealistic. Who does that?

i think. for whatever reason.. he does not want to be here and is prepared not to sign. and i think we would be very very lucky to get a 5th... a 6th is more likely.. a fourth is not going to happen

Finally some REAL talk.
People thinking 4th round is insane. 5th is a dream scenario and a 6th is probably the best. 7th rounder is where the expectation probably lies.

I think alot depends on who is on the board.
My heart says anything less than a 4th is a no go (since he IS really valuable and we know the Bears are desperate after losing in the playoffs due to a bad kicker) but if a highly rated player falls and we NEED the pick then make the deal.

4th rd isn't insane. He is 100% worth a 4th rounder to a team like the Bears who literally lost their whole season in a win now window because of their kicker. Anything less is probably not worth setting the precedent of letting players make demands like that. I'd let him sit his ass on the bench and hold out for a midseason trade from a desperate team with SB hopes before I trade him for a 6th/7th.

I dunno, I know Thomas has 2 years and the option but better throw in a future 7th rounder to seal the deal

that would def seal the deal, it's almost an unfair trade for us.
But i'd do it.

nope, not with Dee ford and Bosa the great on board. this would be 3 RDE's,, and not smart.

As much as I like that -
I'd rather trade him to reap the best we can.
Does Chicago have any OLine guys they'd let go?

I can't see Chicago going any higher than a 5th next year. He would have been worth a couple extra wins for them last year.
