Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3: The Culling Game Part 1 Anime Debuts on January 8
The highly anticipated third season of the popular anime series Jujutsu Kaisen, titled 'The Culling Game Part 1', is set to premiere on January 8. This news comes from TOHO animation, who announced the debut on their official website. The season will air on the 'Super Animeism TURBO' programming block on MBS, TBS, and their affiliated channels.
Crunchyroll, a popular streaming service, has also confirmed that they will be streaming the anime exclusively worldwide, excluding Asia. New episodes will be available on Crunchyroll on the same day as their Japanese broadcast.
The cast for the third season includes Junya Enoki as Yuji Itadori, Yūma Uchida as Megumi Fushiguro, Daisuke Namikawa as Choso, and Megumi Ogata as Yuta Okkotsu. The season is directed by Shōta Goshozono, with Hiroshi Seko overseeing and writing the series scripts. Animation directors Yosuke Yajima and Hiromi Niwa return to design the characters, and Yoshimasa Terui composes the music.
The first two seasons of Jujutsu Kaisen premiered in October 2020 and July 2023, respectively, with 24 and 28 episodes each. The second season aired for two quarters, adapting both the 'Hidden Inventory / Premature Death' and 'Shibuya Incident' arcs of Gege Akutami's original manga. The 'Hidden Inventory / Premature Death' arc aired from July-August 2023, followed by the 'Shibuya Incident' arc, which consisted of 18 episodes.
The JUJUTSU KAISEN: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death – The Movie compilation film opened in Japan on May 30 and ranked at #4 in its opening weekend. The manga, launched in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in March 2018, ended in September 2024. Viz Media is publishing the manga digitally and in print, and Shueisha is also publishing it digitally on its MANGA Plus service.
