  1. Actually we always use every drop, but I imagine it would keep at least a few days in the fridge

  2. I have never been able to make a cooked fudge recipe correctly - always turns out grainy. Same thing happened with this sauce. It tasted great but was grainy. Any tips? I've read about brushing down the sides of the pan when making fudge but that didn't help. I didn't try that tip with the sauce. I live where the air is usually dry if that makes a difference (isn't that supposed to help when making candy, fudge, etc..?) Thanks!

  3. I want to make this for a party. Can I just triple the ingredients or do I need different ratios for a large batch?

  4. On the chocolate sauce recipe, how long does it last? Does it have to be refrigerated or can it be on the Shelf?

  1. Excellent and easy! I added a whole tsp of pure vanilla for a richer flavor.

  2. I'm giving this review based on the feedback from my kids and grandkids. I don't eat ice cream but they all love it and eat it pretty much daily! We use a bottled fudge sauce from an ice cream and candy shop in florida (at about $12 per 16 oz jar!!) as a topping because everyone thinks its the bomb - well, it just got replaced by Lee Lee creation!!Kids and adults alike were ooohing and awwwwing over this - my pregnant daughter in law was lapping it up by the spoonful! Thank you for sharing this one Bev - I have a feeling I'll be making it alot!

  3. Another winner from Lee Lee -- I would have been 300 lbs had I grown up in her house! The butter made all the difference. I made two batches, one as directed and one with dutch processed cocoa. As expected the dutch version was darker and richer tasting, but may be too intense for some -- more of an adult taste. Note, I used unsalted butter, but I don't think it would have made any difference either way.

  4. I agree, this is a wonderful chocolate sauce. I made mine with Splenda instead of sugar and it still was great! Now I can have chocolate sundaes with the kids.

  5. Very easy sundae sauce! I typically make my homemade sauce with chocolate and cocoa (or just chocolate), but as I was out of chocolate I thought I would give this a try. That was a good idea! The only change I made was to add 1/2 tsp of vanilla, instead of 1/4 tsp (I also used the full 2 tbsp of butter). This was easy to whip up and tasted great, served warm, over vanilla ice cream.

Tweaks

  1. Made it just as written. Excellent! I will never make a single batch again!

  2. I stumbled upon this recipe while looking for a simple quick chocolate sauce for my mint cookie ice cream pie. I did make a few changes. I doubled the cocoa and sugar because as it is there is not enough for more than 4 people. I left the salt at 1/4 teaspoon and added 6 Tablespoons of salted butter. I used about a 1/2 cup of 1 % milk instead of water. Even without my changes this recipe is the bomb!!! I added more butter just because I like a little less bitter chocolate. This sauce is Silky Smoothe and the perfect chocolate flavor with a hint of salt.

  3. I doubled this recipe and used heaping tbsps of cocoa. I also substituted milk for the water. It took minutes, and while it's not the best chocolate sauce ever, for a recipe this simple with things that are always in the pantry, it's earned all 5 stars.

  4. Great recipe! I got a bit creative and made a change. For those interested:Substituted the 1/4 water with about a 1/2 coconut milk. Poured the "sauce" over a chocolate cake with coconut & chopped pecans on the bottom of the cake pan. Try THIS with ice cream and a little more sauce!
